While I was gone, my order from Rakuten’s free shipping campaign arrived! Unfortunately, being a bit of an idiot, I had these sent to my apartment, instead of back home, so it seems like I’ll have more stuff to haul back come winter break in a few weeks. :c
Aside from presents I bought for friends and family, I bought these five kits for myself! The eagle-eyed among you may notice that I already reviewed GN-X and Loto, but I got rid of those when I downsized my collection some time ago. I guess that was a mistake, but it’s nice having a fresh start on these fantastic kits!
I also bought this steel mug for myself. I really the ECOAS logo—it looks really crisp—but I really bought this for the other side.
Everything in this order came from Hobby Zone. Of all the retailers on Rakuten, they seem to have the best price and selection on gunpla. The shipping would’ve been quite pricey without the campaign discount, but be sure to keep your eye on them when another campaign rolls around!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the States! This week’s entry is two days late, because these last couple of days have been really hectic. I’ll be moving out in a few months, so, in preparation for that, I hauled my gunpla back home.
Here’s all of my gunpla on my floor before I packed them up. There’s something like seventy kits in this pile.
The night before we drove up, I packed my trunk to the brim. I was a little bit worried at this point, because this was only about half of all the kits I have.
But that’s okay! The morning right before we left, I somehow managed to squeeze the rest into the back; the seat on the left side was still open to hold all of our luggage.
Once we got back, I rearranged the shelves in my old work room, and packed my gunpla back in. There’s still a pretty cosy little work area beneath the shelves you see here!
And that’s what I’ve been up to! I’ve also been catching up with some friends, showing my girlfriend around my hometown, and shopping for some Christmas presents. Please excuse my phone pics this time around… I’ll be back again next week!
2013.11.19: I said I’d post once a week, and I’m going to stick to it! This last weekend, my girlfriend and I went out, and I picked up these guys! I was pretty surprised to find these, because I had a really hard time finding them in-stock anywhere online. She also helped me draw up some plans for our entry into HLJ’s Playing With Plamo competition. I’ll point you guys to my log on the contest site, once I get my pictures up.
This will be my first time doing a competition build in a long time, but I think it’ll be fun! I’m a bit worried about the deadline, though; I’m moving in a few months, so I don’t really have a work set-up right now, and the deadline isn’t too far away. In any case, I’m pretty excited for our project. I really hope we can finish it in time!
Rakuten is hosting a free shipping promotion until this Friday! Orders over ¥10000 receive free international shipping up to ¥3000. Lots of hobby stores are participating, so this is a great chance to pick up some things before the holidays.
Have a pic of the first kit I’ve built in three months! I picked her up from Tatsu Hobby's booth at Japan Expo. She only took three weeks to put together!… 8D
HEADS UP!! If you missed the pre-orders for the Metal Composite Banshee on all the big sites like I did—last I checked, AmiAmi, HLJ, and Hobby Search have all order-stopped—you can still reserve one from Tatsu Hobby. Their listing just went up today, and the price is pretty damn good; at $174.85, it’s actually one of the cheapest you’ll find anywhere!
a lot a little bit of deliberation, I decided that I’m going to get these two. Metal Composite Banshee looks absolutely gorgeous, and the few photos we have of it so far suggest that it addresses some of the design issues from the model kits. I suppose I have less reason to pick up Banshee Ver. Ka, but it has metallic gold parts, which look nice, and its green frame will complement my Full Armour Ver. Ka quite well. I really look forward to getting these two! (Nippon Yasan still has open pre-orders for the Banshee Ver. Ka re-release, if you’d like to get one.)
Anonymous asked: You seem like a nice guy. Can you add the Build Fighters kits to MFC? I have no idea how to add stuff and them not being on my budget page is driving my OCD nuts.
EDIT: And it’s done! The Gundam Battle Fighters page on MFC has been updated to include all currently announced products in the HGBF line.
So my GM is kind of done, I guess. I way too disappointed in my own work to keep going right now. I’ll leave the panel lines and decals for another. Don’t expect a review of this for a good while, if I ever. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fantastic kit, but I think I kind of ruined mine.
Oh man, I just dug up this picture! There was a time when my gunpla shelf used to look like this… It’s quite barren now, unfortunately, but I’m working on filling it back up. Slowly. Very slowly. Can you correctly identify all the kits in here?
Just a few more hours until the dye cures! Can’t wait to put the whole thing together.
